Talos International and our communications partners offer mission-critical hand-held radios, teleports, satellite communication systems, unmanned vehicle payloads, and wireless backhaul network solutions and services to meet our customer’s commercial enterprise, first responder, and government voice, video, and data needs.

 

Planning

We apply a flexible network planning methodology that allows newly delivered communication systems to adapt to next-generation networks, and accommodate a growing number of new information and communications technology-enabled services and applications.

Engineering

Our engineering team is skilled in surveying, designing, installing, testing, and optimizing wireless topologies, and is trained in various network protocols including CDMA, PCS, GSM, iDEN, and LTE. We work with our customers to define precise requirements and customize each solution to meet our customers’ specific communication needs.

Test and Evaluation

Talos International’s employees have significant experience in the test and evaluation (T&E) of government and commercial programs. We understand the fundamental purpose of T&E is to verify and validate performance capabilities, and determine whether systems are operationally effective, suitable, survivable, and safe for intended use. Our T&E services include test management, test plan preparation, testing, test analysis, and test reporting.

Training

Talos International provides training support services, including the planning, analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of curricula. We provide our customers with professional and experienced training managers and curricula development teams capable of developing and supervising mission-focused computer-based training, instructor-led training, and train-the-trainer instructional services in the language required.

Satellite Enterprise Solutions

Our satellite networks will support mission critical business applications with secure, high-speed connections as global connectivity is a must-have in today’s business environment. Talos International and our partners design and install two classes of satellite communications solutions: Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) and Telecommunications Port (teleport). Each provides a different level of communications infrastructure for local and global enterprise networks.

Teleport

A teleport is a satellite ground station that functions as a hub connecting a satellite or geocentric orbital network with terrestrial telecommunications networks, delivering information and entertainment for media and network companies, multinational corporations, Internet Service Providers (ISP), and government agencies. The satellite bandwidth provided to the teleport can range from 150 Mbps to 1 Gbps uplink and 450 Mbps to 5 Gbps downlink. This allows a mix of dedicated bandwidth to support on-site enterprise services and additional bandwidth that can be purchased and then sold to customers for profit.

VSAT Services

VSAT is a two-way satellite ground station terminal that accesses geostationary satellite spacecraft to pass voice, video, and data signals, with a dish antenna that ranges from 90 centimeters to 3 meters. VSAT typically provides customers with 64 Kilobits per second to 4 Megabits per second of bandwidth. VSATs have very few active components, are easy to install and maintain, and light weight (40-200 pounds). Once manually aligned to the satellite, they generally operate autonomously.

Ports of entry, coastlines, and waterways are vital transportation channels vulnerable to illegal fishing activities, petroleum theft, natural disasters, unlawful immigration, piracy, terrorism, and other illicit activity.

Talos International and our technology partners offer solutions that will assist in monitoring maritime, border, and metropolitan activity, allowing law enforcement officers to identify potential threats and proactively respond.

Our employees have conducted site surveys in high threat areas and designed, installed, tested, and delivered technology solutions that range from Regional Command and Control Centers to fixed site and mobile electro-optic sensor stations ― communicating on cyber-security protected networks.

Protecting Critical Infrastructure

Critical infrastructure is the backbone of each nation’s economy, security, and health. Proactive efforts are necessary to develop, strengthen, and maintain a secure, functioning, and resilient critical infrastructure ― including assets, networks, and systems that are vital to public safety. Talos International offers turn-key solutions to assist our customers in protecting their nation’s oil and gas, transportation, communication, electrical, and maritime critical infrastructure.

Installation and sustainment of technology solutions assist in preventing unlawful immigration, piracy, terrorism, and other forms of illicit activity. Talos International will design, install, test, and deliver technical solutions to meet each customer’s needs.

Our employees have significant experience designing and constructing Fixed Site and Mobile Operations Centers in Southeast Asia, Southwest Asia, and the Middle East. Fixed sites can be equipped with sensors and communications systems riding on a cyber-security protected network; and passing voice, video, and data to command and control centers. Each solution can be delivered with training and maintenance support packages in the language desired.

The Smart Sensor Advisory System (SSAS) detects technical problems prior to system failures, reduces downtime, improves safety for employees, and maximizes profitability. This is accomplished by sensors and cameras continuously monitoring, and SSAS software analyzing equipment performance and environmental conditions in real time. When predefined thresholds are exceeded, SSAS sends digital alerts to the Operations Center desktop computer and to designated managers’ mobile communication devices and computers.

The Smart Sensor Advisory System is composed of three interoperable segments communicating on a wireless network:

  1. SSAS intrinsically safe sensors attached to equipment located in the refinery
  2. Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) cameras that slew to alerting sensors
  3. Smart Sensor Advisory System located in the operations center, communicating with the wireless sensor and camera network, and sending digital alerts via the internet and cellular networks
24/7 Continuous Sensor Monitoring

The SSAS wireless sensors are optimized for low-power usage (battery operated), use the HART protocol, operate in temperatures ranging from 40° to 122°F, and function in a high sulfur environment throughout their life cycle. The SSAS sensors include vibration, temperature, pressure, oxygen deficiency, leak, alternating current, valve position (open or closed), flow velocity, ultrasonic, environmental, H2S, and pan-tilt-zoom day and night cameras. Customers can define sensor performance thresholds, set the frequency of sensor readings, activate sensors at set time intervals, and create a list of personnel who will receive environmental or security alerts when defined performance thresholds have been met or exceeded.

Detection and Alerting

When a SSAS sensor has detected an unacceptable change such as excessive vibration on a pump, the pan-tilt-zoom camera automatically slews to the alerting sensor and records video for 5 seconds. The Smart Sensor Advisory System receives the sensor data and video, analyzes the raw data, and transitions it into measurable statistics and usable information. SSAS then sends an alert message and video to the operations center desktop computer and to designated supervisor’s and manager’s mobile communication devices and computers.

Preventive Maintenance

SSAS can detect technical problems prior to system failures, allowing engineers and technicians to replace defective components prior to the loss of production, or shut the system down prior to catastrophic failure.

Scalability

The Smart Sensor Advisory System can scale to meet additional customer requirements. Multiple oil and gas industry sites can be equipped with Smart Sensors and be monitored by one operations center. Electro-optic day and night cameras, radar, and other sensors can be added to SSAS to assist in detecting and providing early warning of intruders attempting to enter oil and gas facilities.

Wireless and WIFI Sensors

SSAS – E offers 32 high performance Federal Communications Commission (FCC) certified wireless sensors, and 12 Wi-Fi sensors to meet our customer’s monitoring and notification requirements, reduce the risk of product loss, and meet regulatory compliance. Customers can define sensor performance thresholds, set the frequency of sensor readings, activate sensors at set time intervals, and create a list of staff who will receive environmental or security alerts when defined performance thresholds have been met or exceeded.

Alerts

SSAS – E immediately sends E-mail and SMS text message alerts to designated computer terminals and employee mobile communications devices when a defined parameter has been met or exceeded or a power outage occurs.

Information Management and Regulatory Standards

SSAS – E is a closed system that accurately records, documents, and provides an electronic signature of wireless sensor data. This secure online electronic record of documented information can be accessed by authorized employees, and accurate and complete copies of records suitable for inspection and review can be generated. SSAS – E also provides unlimited “online” storage capacity of recorded sensor data, and buffers up to 16,000 sensor data messages in on-board memory.
